Hagatha's Hat update #5

I did alot of progress on the cone part of Hagatha's hat tonight.  I just have to do all the black stitches around the outside and then the back stitches for sewing the cone together.

Hagatha's Hat update #4

I'm continuing to work on Hagatha's Hat by Just Nan.  Mine is different because it is supposed to be stitched on puple canvas, but I didn't have anymore purple and was anxious to start, so I decided to use black instead.   Now all the spots that should have been black are now being stitched with purple..  I will use the black on the outside (where it would have normally been purple) so it won't be as noticable when I stitch the pieces into a 3D hat.

I'm sad to say I won't have it completed by the end of October.  I'm working on the cone shape of the hat, but there is still the brim (circle shape).  I hope to have some stitching time this weekend.  Here is my progress so far.

Cross Stitch Workshop

Tonight I attended my first Blackwork Workshop.  My LNS (Stitcher's Place) was hosting Elizabeth Almond of Blackwork Journey from the UK.  She is doing another workshop tomorrow during the day but I have to work.  I have done blackwork before, but never taken a class.  Here are some photos from tonights class.  There were 11 ladies stitching (and Liz).

This is Deborah (left) stitching and Liz assisting her.

There were several new faces tonight, ladies that don't come to our regular Tuesday night Stitching Club.

Wilma (owner of Stitcher's Place) at the top of the photo (black sweater), Rita to her right, and Leigh in the bottom corner.  I was sitting beside Leigh and Deborah was across from me.  We are all from the Tuesday night stitchering club.

This is what I stitched tonight.  I still have more to do.  I also bought one of Liz's patterns, I chose the Maple Leaf Wreath because she is visiting Canada.  Liz was very nice and signed the chart for me.   It was a pleasure to meet Liz, she is a very talented stitcher.

Halloween Cross Stitch Exchange

Tuesday night is Stitcher's Club at my LNS Stitcher's Place (www.stitcherplace.com).  Tonight was our Cross Stitch Halloween Exchange so I can finally show you what I stitched back in August/September. I did a pumpkin - 15 sided biscornu (my first one).  The fabric is 28ct Lugana evenweave colour is called Fizzle by Picture this Plus.  I used my Just Nan Floral Fifteen for the shapes (15 squares).  The top 5 squares I used the flower from one of Elizabeth Almond's  (Blackwork Journey) free designs from her website.  The middle and bottom squares I just started backstitching lines into a pattern.  I wanted something simple to stitch, but busy enough when it was done to fill in the orange because the orange Fizzle fabric is very light.  I personalized it with a Jack O'Lantern face and on the bottom Halloween Exchange 2014.  Here are some photos of my pumpkin.   Remember the box, this is what I presented my pumpkin in.

Here are 4 of the 5 exchange pieces that were traded tonight in person.  There was 1 online stitcher who participated, she stitched the white biscornu in the middle.  It is always interesting to see what everyone stitches.  What are the chances out of the 5 stitchers to have 3 biscornus and we all chose a different Halloween pattern and fabric.  I love participating in the exchanges.

Leigh received my pumpkin, I received her beautiful framed picture (thanks Leigh, I love it!), Deborah (not sure if this is the correct spelling of her name) received the biscornu in the middle from the online stitcher, and Wilma (LNS owner who hosted the exchange) received the beautiful biscornu on the right from Deborah.  Wilma's item (I forgot to ask what she stitched) was mailed to the online stitcher.

I started a new project tonight.  It is a Christmas gift for a friend.  I'm stitching a free cross stitch pattern of a Pokemon named Gyarados.  Here is my progress so far.  It is on 28ct black evenweave.

Hagatha's Hat update #1

Last week during the Tuesday Night Cross Stitch Club I started stitching Hagatha's Hat on 28ct Fizzle evenweave.  I pulled out more stitches than I put in that night, I just couldn't seem to count correctly.

I didn't get a chance to stitch again until tonight.  Even though I wasn't stitching, I have been thinking about the project.   I  decided to start over on 28ct black evenweave with DMC glow in the dark white floss.  When I have to stitch with black floss on black canvas I think I might try black rayon or metallic to make it stand out.
