Handprints - Baby

I have used the Baby Keepsakes pattern every time I have stitched a project for a baby. I bought this pattern in 1997 at a local craft store. I have stitched this pattern 12 times so far  over the years.

Handprint Poem

1998 - I stitched the pattern as it was shown above (I was a beginner, so no modifications) for my oldest son's Kindergarten teacher.  I was able to get a photo later with the child's handprints in paint.

2006 - This was stitched for my brother Dan's grandchild (girl). I used the poem, but created the pink girl name blocks and found free patterns for the toys and handprints online.

2008 - This was stitched for co-worker #1, but she didn't know the gender at the time (boy). I used the poem, but only a few of the toys along with the handprints.

2008 - This was for co-worker #2, but she knew it was a boy. I made it similar to the green one because they worked together and I didn't want anyone to feel like one was better than the other.

2008 - This one was for a friend of my sister. The theme was reptiles. I looked through all of my cross stitch books & magazines for patterns.

2010 - This was for a friend Trudy's first grandchild (girl). The theme was butterflies. I found butterfly patterns in my books & magazines.

2011 - This was stitched for my sister's best friend's first baby (boy). The theme was Jungle Animals. I found animal patterns in my books & magazines.

2011 - This was stitched for a family friend's first baby (girl). I didn't know the theme, so I stitched it in pink.

2014 - This was stitched for the same family friend's second baby (girl). I stitched it exactly like her sister's, but in purple.

2014 - This was stitched for another friend of my sisters (girl). The theme was Jungle Animals, but I chose the same 5 animals that my sister was using in her crochet project for the baby.

My sister Pam crocheted this stacking toy animal rings on tree.

2023 - This was stitched for my sons' friend Scott's first baby (boy). The theme was Woodland Animals. I stitched the poem in green to match the August birthstone peridot (light green) when baby was due. I found animal patterns in my books & magazines.

2025 - This was stitched for my long time friend Lisa's first grandchild (girl). We have known each other for 33 years, and I have known her daughter Joy-Hannah since she was born. The theme was vintage cottage flowers (dusty rose, sage green and beige).

I found a different version of this poem on Amazon. It is a cross stitch book called Leisure Arts Sweet Baby Memories. I like the crayons and stuffed animals in this one. I might buy it the next time I want to stitch this project.

In this book you get 8 different designs so you can personalize your project. Here is an example shown on the back cover of the book.
