More birthday cards

I forgot to show these 2 cards I made for family birthdays in August.

The first one (August 16) for my brother-in-law (Dave's sister Diane's husband Greg) who loves to fish.  I created a fishing vest.  I looked at images on line and then made my own.  I used several die cut shapes to make all of the items ...

  • "S" for worms
  • "J" for fish hooks
  • circles cut in half for bobbins, then add 2 smaller circles to top and bottom to match each end
  • 2 long stems glued together to make a fishing rod
  • added a string of Christmas lights for the hooks on fishing rod
  • glued white sewing thread to look like the fishing line goes through the hooks.

Inside the card I used a goldfish stamp & die set.  I thought it was funny because he would never go fishing for goldfish.

Outside cover.

The second one (August 24) for my sister-in-law (Dave's brother Bob's wife Olivette) who loves the beach and cruises to warm locations.

This one was fun because I got to colour with pencil crayons.  I printed 2 different beach colouring pages on white card stock.  I coloured the main scene, then added the palm tree, ship and sun from the other page that I coloured.  I framed the beach scene with seashell paper left over from my sister's mermaid card.  Found a fun Happy Birthday to colour, then framed around with green cardstock which was also used inside the card.

Sunday, October 25 is Mother-in-law day.  I need to make a card for Dave's mom.

I usually make about 20 different Christmas cards each year.  I like to have choices when I mail them out.

I also have one more birthday card to make at the end of the year.  My close friend Lisa turns 60 on December 30th.

I also will need 3 birthday cards in the beginning of January (3, 10 and 19), so I need to get them done early.  I won't feel like making more cards after I do so many for Christmas.

Today is my future daughter-in-law Sarah's 25th birthday.  Here is the card I made for her.  Can you tell her favourite colour is blue?

Another Birthday Card

Today is my baby sister Denise's birthday (she is 42).  There is 12 years between us. We have 1 sister and 3 brothers between us.  I'm closer to my 2 sisters (Pam & Denise) now that we are all adults.  We are all creative, but in very different ways.  I cross stitch, make cards, and scrapbook.  Pam loves to crochet and read.  Denise makes stuff with her Cricut (mugs/glasses/shirts) and makes the most beautiful cakes & cupcakes.  I try to make cards personal to the person, so I chose baking as my theme for Denise's card this year.  Denise has a great sense of humour, so she wasn't offended by my card.  The card reads My desserts don't look as good as yours do … They look better!  Too bad we can't eat them.

Happy Easter

I’d like to wish all of my stitching friends a Happy Easter!!  Here is the card I made for my Mother-in-Law for Easter.  It is my first Easter card.  We are not religious so I went with the rabbit and egg theme for the card.

Today is also my husband’s brother Bob’s 60th birthday.  The Dave & Bob have been Boston Bruin fans since they were kids, so I definitely had to make this card.

Happy Birthday to Me

Today was my birthday ... nothing exciting.  I sat and watched TV shows and cross stitched all day.
We celebrated yesterday with Mandarin (takeout) and a Mint Chocolate ice cream cake from Baskin Robbins (my favourite ice cream).

I worked on my son's girlfriend's Christmas gift a cross stitch of a Pokemon named Gyarados.  Here is my progress so far.  It is a surprise for Christmas, so I can only stitch when she is not visiting.

Birthday gift part 2

I didn't get to stitch tonight. By the time Dave & I got home from Costco, had supper, did the dishes, and then I called my mom. It is now after 10pm and it is time for bed.

For those who read my blog, you will know that my sons bought me a new cross stitch floor lamp and magnifier last month for my birthday, but the magnifier was on back order... it finally arrived today!! I had time to install it on my lamp, I will try it out tomorrow night.

November TUSAL

Here is a photo of my birthday cake. It is a Baskin Robbins Mint Chocolate Chip ice cream cake. My favourite and it was delicious.

Here are the plastic Christmas ornaments my husband bought me for keeping my TUSAL orts in after the year is over. I filled up 3 out of 4 of them. On the left is 2011, middle 2012, and right is 2013. I will continue to add orts to the 2013.

Happy Birthday to Me!!

My birthday is today, but we will have my birthday meal tomorrow because my oldest son was working afternoon shift. We will have bbq steak for lunch. I bought myself a Baskin Robbins ice cream cake (Mint Chocolate Chip).

Yesterday my boss bought me a miniature cake and Chai Latte (my favourite). The miniature cake was so cute, but I haven't eaten it yet, I will enjoy it with my ice cream tomorrow.

My husband bought me a Crock Pot Lunch Crock. It warms food (doesn't cook it). I can have hot food at work.

He also got me 4 clear plastic Christmas ornaments to keep my orts for the year inside. I will show a photo another time.

My sons ordered me a new cross stitch floor lamp and magnifier. Lamp should arrive on Monday, but the magnifier is on back order. I'll take a photo when it arrives.

Happy Birthday to me!!

Today is my 46th birthday. Dave and I both took the day off. We spent the day together doing errands - doctors and dentist appointment, lunch and grocery shopping. For supper we ordered Mandarin (take-out) and mint chocolate chip ice cream cake from Baskin Robbins.

This is my new project Namaste by Ink Circles.
