IHSW, TUSAL and a new start

My weekend was so busy ... We finally got the basement painted. We did some Christmas shopping, wrapped all the presents, put up the Christmas tree, then we put all the presents under the tree (our sons are adults now). I had more trouble trying to keep our turtle from climbing on the presents. She just wanted to be under the tree. Here is a photo of our tree.

It was IHSW this weekend and the only time I had to stitch was an hour on Sunday night in between laundry. I don't have much to show because I started. New project. When I'm Old I Shall Wear Plaid Trousers. Most of my time was spent preparing the fabric on my scroll frame. Here is a progress photo.

And here is a photo of my December TUSAL.

Happy Dance

I finished the Namaste by Ink Circles on Saturday. Not sure if I will frame it or make it into a bell pull. I think I will start kitting all my projects for 2013.

Thought you might like to see how I framed my Victorian Dollhouse. Simple black frame.

December - life got busy

I forced myself to blog everyday in November because of the National Blog Posting Month, then December started and I didn't have any stitching to show so I didn't feel like blogging. Last weekend we primed the basement walls and ceiling (2 coats), then we painted the ceiling (2 coats). Hopefully this weekend gets to see some colour on the walls. I'm sick of looking at white walls (drywall, primer, and ceiling colour are all white). I will show some photos when the renovation is completed.
Now for some stitching updates. I finished outlining the purple motif and finished colouring in the green motif.

Ink Circles Namaste Chart

Astrid (astridxstitching.blogspot.ca) asked, "What will it look like when it is finished"? Here is a photo of my Ink Circles chart, I just love all the colours it reminds me of a rainbow.

Not much time to stitch this weekend. We put the first coat of primer on the new walls in the basement. Hopefully the second coat will be next weekend. We should have paint on the ceiling and walls before Christmas.

Standard First Aid Training

Two co-workers and I attended a 2 day standard first aid (adult) CPR course at St. John Ambulance location (Kitchener Ontario).

I took a similar course as a teenager when I was an army cadet, years later my husband and I learned infant CPR when our oldest son was born (20 years ago).

Today I bought a first aid kit for our home. We always have bandaids in the house, but now we have a full kit in case of an emergency (and I know how to use everything inside the kit)!

Christmas shopping

I did not do any stitching tonight, so I will share another shopping photo. I love this blue evenweave, I don't have a project in mind at the moment. I bought the fabric and a magazine to put in my Christmas stocking. Since i don't need The other fabric and floss that I purchased last week they will also go away until Christmas.

Turquoise motif

After I finished outlining the green motif I continued on to the turquoise motif instead of filling in the green colour. Here is my progress on so far.

In think I will continue outlining the rest of the motifs before adding the colour to them.

Frogging and re-start

When I picked up my stitching tonight I realized I started the Turquoise motif instead of the green one. Good thing I only stitched for 15 minutes yesterday, so I did have very much to frog. I re-started the green motif I will show you my progress tomorrow morning, not enough light to take good photo at night.

IHSW

No stitching ... buying fabric

I am luck to have an LNS close to home. We meet every Tuesday night at Stitcher's Place (www.stitchersplace.com) for Stitcher's Club. I didn't feel like stitching this week, instead I went shopping for fabric & floss for next years projects.
I already had the pattern and light blue fabric for When I am an Old Man I Shall Wear Plaid Trousers. I found a beautiful blue hand dyed floss that I wanted to try. I always use DMC.

Then I started looking for purple fabric and found a gorgeous purple hand dyed floss to try. Since these will be companion pieces on the wall. I can't wait to stitch this project. Purple is my favourite colour!

3rd day

I'm on the 3rd day of November and I have already ran out of things to blog about because I usually only talk about my stitching.
Here is a photo of Frodo. She is a Red-eared slider (turtle). She will be 7 on December 31st (that was the day we bought her). She likes to stand on her hind legs and stick her nose out of the water to be petted. We usually rub the top of her nose, she seems to like it.

Happy Birthday to me!!

Today is my 46th birthday. Dave and I both took the day off. We spent the day together doing errands - doctors and dentist appointment, lunch and grocery shopping. For supper we ordered Mandarin (take-out) and mint chocolate chip ice cream cake from Baskin Robbins.

This is my new project Namaste by Ink Circles.

NatBloPoMo

National Blog Posting Month (NaBloPoMo) ... I read this on Dani's blog (www.tkdchick.blogspot.ca) last year, and now that I have a blog of my own I thought it would be fun to try. I don't usually blog every day because I like to post a photo with each entry I write, and I only post cross stitch photos.

My BAP Happy Dance

I finished my BAP Victorian Dollhouse by Joan Elliott. Here is a photo of it completely finished.

I have decided to work on something a little smaller for my next project. I'd like to see another finish before the end of the year. I have started pulling threads (DMC) and fabric (28ct light blue evenweave) for Ink Circles Namaste.

Happy Stitching!

IHSW update

Lots of stitching time this weekend. I finished the Master Bedroom and then worked on the attic bedroom. The floor was already done, I stitched the green walls, some of the bed, and the doorway. Here is a progress photo. I should be able to complete the whole Victorian Dollhouse by the end of October.

If you are interested, here is a photo of the whole dollhouse.

IHSW

It is finally here, IHSW (International Hermit Stitching Weekend). Here is my before photo. The Master Bedroom is almost finished. A few more items to stitch and back stitch (picture frame and pink chair). I will definitely complete this room by the end of the weekend. Let's see how much I will get done in the attic bed room.

When I see that I'm getting close to a finish (like now), I start deciding what to stitch next. I have 4 projects that I want to do next year.
1 - Garden Chair by Cat's Whiskers. I fell in love with the design because I studied Interior Design and I used to build dollhouses/miniatures as a hobby.

2 - Namaste by Ink Circles. I love the vibrant colours of the rainbow.

3 - I Shall Wear Purple by Sue Hillis. This is for me, my favourite colour is purple.

4 - I Shall Wear Plaid by Stitch World. My husband turns 50 on March 24th, and it is the companion piece to mine.

These are decisions that I like to make, they don't affect anyone else but me. Which one should I start next? I will only stitch one at a time. The exception might be to have a large project at home and a small one to take to the cross stitch club on Tuesday nights.
