A Few Finishes (assembled)

I started November trying to blog every day ... but life got in the way.  I finally assembled Just Nan's Hagatha's Hat.  I am very happy with the results, after sewing the bottom at least 4 times before I was happy and left it.  It was hard to get the bottom flat and stuff it with a cardboard circle.  The ghost is on the front.
Here it is showing the side.
I thought I should stitch something for Christmas.  This ornament is for my youngest sister Denise.  She LOVES The Nightmare Before Christmas, so I stitched Jack Skellington for her.  I still need to finish it into an ornament.
This past weekend I assembled Just Nan's Witchy Pumplkin Cottage.  I wanted the cottage to open so I could put a mouse inside.  The inside isn't perfect, but it is only for me.  Here are a few photos.

Happy Dance

I finished attaching the beads tonight to the Witchy Pumpkin Cottage.  Photos are not the greatest (night time) but you can see the detail and the beads.  Not sure if II will have time this weekend to assemble it.  I want to line the insde with fabric and have the side with the door open and close.  I never do anything the easy way.  :)

Witchy Pumpkin Cottage update #12

I had to frog the left side border twice before I got it right.  I have completed all the cross stitching on the cube.  I still need to do the beads.

Here is a photo of all 6 sides completed.

Witchy Pumpkin Cottage update #11

I was trying to stitch the last leaf and discovered that I miscounted.  I started the white face to close to the left border.  I need to pull out the border and the 2 leaves on the left side, but that will be tomorrow nights fun.  :(

Witchy Pumpkin Cottage update #10

I finished the Witch's cauldron side late last night or was it early this morning.

Today I started the last side (owl and ghost).  I will need to frog the ghost, didn't notice until I finished the border that I am off by one stitch.

Witchy Pumpkin Cottage update #7

Tuesday night is Stitcher's Club at my LNS (Stitcher's Place).  I continued stitching on the roof with the bats.  Sorry for the blurry photo, it didn't look bad until I cropped it for a closeup.

Witchy Pumpkin Cottage update #6

Today is my birthday, I usually buy a Baskin Robbins ice cream cake but this year I decided to buy something different.  This is called a Lemon Swirl cake.  It tastes like eating lemon pie filling.

Dave & I took the day off for my birthday.  I spent the day relaxing and cross stitching.  I finished the 3rd side (with the crow and squirrel).  I also finished the border around the top (roof).

Witchy Pumpkin Cottage update #5

I finally finished the 2nd side (front door) tonight and started 2 others.  The square one on the right is the top (roof) and the one on the left is the side with the crow and squirrel.

Witchy Pumpkin Cottage update #3

I'm still working on the 2nd side (front door) of the cube.

I attended a workshop at Stitcher's Place (LNS) this afternoon.  Heather taught us how to do a Picot edge using 3 different stitches.  Four-sided stitch, Pulled Backstitch and the Nun's Stitch.  I managed to do the first 2 stitches, but am still having problems with the Nun's Stitch.  I will look online tomorrow to find another set of instructions to follow.  Here is how it looks when you do the first 2 stitches (four-sided stitch and then pulled backstitch.
Then you fold the evenweave and do the Nun's stitch to secure the edge in place.  The edge is a beautiful way to finish a bellpull, hanging sampler, needleroll.  I want to do this on the sides of the Snowman Wisdom (if I every get it done).  Enjoyed the class, just need to practice more.  Thanks Wilma for encouraging Heather to teach a class on this type of finish.

Gingerbread Jingle Mouse update #1

Tonight was Stitcher's Club at my LNS Stitcher's Place.  I continued working on Just Nan's Gingerbread Jingle Mouse.  Here is what I got done.

Sunday, 20 September 2015

I won! I won!

I won a blogaversary giveaway from Angela at Hooked on Stitches (http://hookedonstitches.blogspot.ca).  She made a beautiful sewing box, Lizzie Kate Design "Life's A Stitch".  She did a wonderful job on finishing it.
Here are a few photos.

I will use it for storing needles.

After finishing Stitcher's Place I decided I want to see another small finish, so I started working on Just Nan's Gingerbread Jingle Mouse.

I  would have gotten more stitched but I had to pull out the left side edge (red and white) and restitch because my count was way off.

Stitcher's Place - Happy Dance

I completed Stitcher's Place late Friday night around midnight.  Here is the completed project and a few photos showing the real cross stitch store in Cambridge, Ontario, Canada.

This one I borrowed from Google Street view.  The retail store is on the left side and our Cross Stitch Club & workshops are held on the right side.

This one I borrowed from Stitcher's Place website.  There is room to park in the front and back of the building.  Stitcher's Place also sells online wwwstitchersplace.com .

Stitcher's Place update #13

Tuesday night I went to Stitcher's Club at my LNS and worked on Stitcher's Place.  I got quite a bit done, then came home and stitched a few more hours.  I'm getting closer to a finish.   Just the roof, and balcony door, and main entrance to do.  Hope to have it completed by the weekend.

Stitcher's Place update #12

One of my commenters was asking if I was almost finished.  I am getting  closer to a finish.  Here is a photo of what the finished project will look like.  I will not be stitching the border around.  I'm only stitching the house (Stitcher's Place retail store).
