Let The People Choose - Pets

Thank you Jo at Serendipitous Stitching for hosting the Let The People Choose each month. The theme for July is Pets.

As a child my family only had dogs. My husbands family had lots of animals living on a farm.  When we moved in together way back in 1985, we had 5 budgies.
When our boys were young we had many different pets ...

hamsters (Hammy & Digger). This is Digger, he was so sweet and didn't bite people.

guinea pigs (Eeyore, Popcorn & Jellybean). This is the habitat we built them.

red-eared slider turtle named Frodo who lived 12 years.

and this is the first fish tank (20 gallons).

Now our boys are adults, but we still have a fish tank (75 gallons). We have a pleco (algae eater) named Waldo who is 16 years old and 5 clown loaches, but they don't have names.

I have stitched a few cats for my sister-in-laws back in 1998 & 2003.

and yes, I'm still working on Frederick the Literate for my son and daughter-in-law.

I stitched this turtle in 2006.

But my favourite is the Rainbow Bridge by Sue Hillis stitched in 2011.  This is a tribute to all of the pets we have loved over the years. I added extra animals to this project to make it personal (budgies, a hedgehog my sister had, a ferret that my sister's friend had and a nicer looking turtle).

Let The People Choose - Snow

Thank you Jo at Serendipitous Stitching for hosting the Let the People Choose each month. This month’s theme is SNOW.  We certainly got a lot where I live in Ontario, Canada.  Here is a photo taken looking outside my front window today.

I try to participate in this SAL, but either don’t have anything to post or I forget to post. I only have one project that I stitched related to snow called Snowman Wisdom by Sue Hillis.  It was a fun project to work on back in 2016. I made it into a wall hanging with snow fabric.

FFG - March

Thanks again to Rachel at Ten Hour Stitcher for encouraging us to finish some projects.  I was going to blog about my Quidditch progress and saw Rachel’s blog and felt guilty because I procrastinated all month and didn’t get around to fully finishing anything until this morning.  Thanks Rachel, it’s all your fault.  :)

First up I used a black 5 X 7 frame for the Lesley Teare SAL I did last year.  I couldn’t use the glass because of the beads in the project.  Next time I’m ironing something I can take this out and iron it as well.

The second framed project is by Sue Hillis called Yes, I Can Drive A Stick.  I don’t usually stitch Halloween pictures, but this one I had to do because I actually prefer to drive standard transmission (cars with a stick).  So this project is perfect for me, and I stitched it on purple.  The frame is a little banged up, but I reused it from our house.

The last framed picture is called Blackwork Dragon by Dragon Dreams.  I stitched this way back in 2004.  I believe the model was stitched in one colour, but I thought it would be fun to mix it up.

Finally the one everyone is waiting to see ... Miss Strawberry Mouse.  Remember this is what she looked like before.  I love the pink on pink fabric.

I had to take her outside for a photo because it is a cloudy, rainy day here.  Every room is dark, I was getting shadows.  I assembled her today.  I love how she turned out.  I like the new tails on the mice for the seasonal houses.  It is a wire corded tail instead of the metal shaped tails.  It is hard to see the pink on pink fabric in the photos, but you can see it in real life.

Happy Dance!!

I finally finished Snowman Wisdom by Sue Hillis.  I started it January 1 2015, but was not inspired to work on it much last year.  I'm so happy it is finished.  I will let the photos do the talking.

I'm going to stitch a few small projects before starting Paradise later this year.
Also Sarah (Jordyn's girlfriend) finished her project at the same time I did.  Here is a photo.

Snowman Wisdom update #19

Not much stitching tonight, but I'm almost finished the pink hat.  I still have a few white back stitches to do on the pompom at the top of the hat.

Frogging

I would have been finished the pink hat , but I had to frog some of the dark pink I stitched on Tuesday night.  I will add the dark pink on the left side after I finish the white edge at the bottom.

Snowman Wisdom update #18

Tonight at the Tuesday Night Stitcher's Club (LNS Stitcher's Place) I worked on the pink hat and while it was off the floor stand I got a photo of the whole project so far.  I love the fabric it kind of looks like snow.

Snowman Wisdom update #17

I finished the broom, then I started and finished the corn cob pipe.

I think I will take this tomorrow night to the Stitcher's Club, I'm getting close to finishing and don't really want to work on anything else.  :)

Snowman Wisdom update #12

I think I'm finished the front yard scene.  I will double check tomorrow night to see if I'm really done.

Looks like I missed the snowman's mouth.

No stitching tonight ... Just planning

I didn't get any stitching done tonight.  I have always been 99% a One-at-a-time stitcher.  Having too many projects on the go stresses me out.

Here are my big projects to work on at home using my floor stand.
1. Finish Snowman Wisdom.
2. Decide what to do with I Shall Wear Plaid Trousers (UFO started 3+ years ago).
This is my progress ... but I'm not happy with the chart (letters/words are not always the same).  Do I continue or frog and rechart the words.
3. Paradise - start and maybe finish.

I will bring small Just Nan projects to my Tuesday Night Stitcher's Club.  These are not in any particular order.
1. Miss Witchy Mouse
2. Witchy's Sister Mouse
3. Juliet Mouse
4. Gingerbread Reindeer Mouse
5. Gingerbread Angel Mouse
6. Emma & Eliza's Christmas Tree
7. Romeo Mouse (not released yet)
8. Fifteen Floral (15 sided Biscornu)

Snowman Wisdom update #11

Tonight I started the pine tree on the right side of the front yard and the lamp post.
