Colouring Calendar

I had to work today, but it was a slow day because most of my customers were closed (schools, Government offices).  I had time to colour my calendar page.

Question about Colouring Calendar

Cathy at http://stitchinggrandmacathy.blogspot.ca/ left me a comment/question about my Colouring Calendar.

I need to get one of these for my daughter. Did you add the coloring or did it come that way?

Here is a photo of the box.  I bought it at Costco last fall, but I'm sure you can find them somewhere else online.
There is a different page to colour each day.  As you can see below Saturday & Sunday are on one page.
I have this calendar on my desk at work, but most days I don't have time to colour ... just too busy.  When I do, I use 5 different fluorescent highlight markers.  The bright colours make me happy.

Mamma Mia!

Tonight Dave & I went to see Mamma Mia! live at the Dunfield Theatre in the city of Cambridge, Ontario. Here is the link you are interested in going.  https://www.draytonentertainment.com/Online/mobile/default.asp?doWork::WScontent::loadArticle=Load&BOparam::WScontent::loadArticle::article_id=96013FF0-73FA-4C33-A565-8305F32FD722&sessionlanguage=&SessionSecurity::linkName=
It was fabulous, we both love musicals and the music in this one is very lively.  I have the DVD movie version and love watching it and was very excited to seeing it live.  I was not lucky enough to see it in Toronto, but wished I had.

Happy St. Patrick's Day Everyone!!

I'd like to share with you a project I stitched in 2009 called Old Celtic Blessing.  I made it for my Nana who was Irish.  It hangs in the front entrance of my home, it was returned to me after she passed away.  It reminds me of her when I see it every morning on my way out the door.  I will think of her today as I wear green, which was her favourite colour.

Cataloging your movie collection

No stitching tonight, we went to Costco I bought the new season of Game of Thrones.  I don't watch it on TV, I wait and buy it on Blu-Ray.  If you are a DVD/Blu-Ray collector you might be interested in some software called DVD Profiler.  It is a data base to catalogue your movie collection.  I have over 1000 movies/TV shows so I like to keep track of who borrows them.  My friends and family say it is just like renting from the library.  http://www.invelos.com/. I paid $30 Canadian for a lifetime membership at least 10 years ago.  I can download any new updates for free.  I LOVE it to organize my collection (obsession)!  Here is an example of my collection uploaded to a webpage for family to browse.  http://www.invelos.com/dvdcollection.aspx/christiedvd

Here are a few screen shots ... you can arrange the sections where you want on the screen. This one only shows the front cover of the DVD.  You enter your movies by title or UPC code.

This screen shot is similar to how mine is, showing my list on the left and info in the middle and the front and back DVD covers on the right.  But it looks like it is from an older version.

Green - Save Water

Tonight at Tuesday night Stitcher's Club at my LNS Stitcher's Place http://www.stitchersplace.com/ I continued working on Save Water.

Monday, 14 March 2016

Green - Save Water

I started the next Green Flip-It Save Water.  Mine will look different than the project below because I accidentally switched the first 2 Plant a Tree and Ride a Bike.  I like things to be symmetrical so I am doing red letters ride a bike, blue letters plant a tree, green letters be kind to animals, green letters  save water, blue letters keep our air clean and red letters eat locally.

I'm getting closer to finishing this one.  I'm working on the brown border and then I have the turtle in the left corner.

Green - Be Kind to Animals update #2

I went to Tuesday Night Stitcher's Club at my LNS Stitcher's Place http://www.stitchersplace.com/ .  I got quite a bit done tonight.  Here is what the whole project looks like so far.
Here is a close up of Be Kind to Animals.  It is not a very good photo, the fabric colour is supposed to look brown (28ct Lugana Coffee) but it looks more like grey in this photo.

Organization - Craft Shelf/Floss Cabinet

I know everyone has their own way of storing cross stitch floss.  I only use DMC because I don't like doing a full X each time.  I like to do a half stitch first ///// and then go back and finish the X by doing the other half of the stitch \\\\\.  This is why I don't use hand dyed floss, not because the colours don't look nice, but just because of the way I stitch.

I have one of each DMC colour wrapped on plastic bobbins in a wooden cabinet.  When I first started cross stitching (1995) I belonged to a Miniature club (building Dollhouses and Miniatures), I designed my own cabinet to look similar to the beautiful and expensive DMC wooden cabinets and one of the Miniaturists built the cabinet for me.  I made mine to sit the plastic beading/floss cases inside (without the lids).  I LOVE my wooden cabinet and use it all the time.  I have never finished it with stain or varnish because I didn't want to ruin it by picking a colour.  The wood has changed colour over the years, someday I might treat the wood but for now it is still bare wood.  Here are a few photos.

The cabinet has 4 drawers and the top section full of DMC floss.  Looking back I should have designed it with more drawers to hold extra skeins of floss.

All the extra DMC skeins of floss I keep inside floss bags in a scrapbook 12 X 12 box from Michaels.  I use these cases for all my hobbies, so Dave & I designed a craft shelf to hold scrapbook 12 X 12 cases.  I didn't want all the cases to be the same colour, so I bought 2 of each colour whenever Michael's had them on sale.  I now have enough to fill the shelf.

On the top of my shelf I have a jewelry holder that spins around, I hang all my Just Nan 3D limited edition ornaments on it.  I also have a glass box with my 3D chair (keeps it dust free).  You will also see the painted box that I won from Angela.

Here is a list of things I keep in the 12 X 12 scrapbook cases.
- Zentangle/drawing supplies
- pencil crayons for my colouring books
- extra DMC floss in floss bags, DMC Variegated
- cross stitch supplies
- finished projects (to be assembled or framed)
- kitted projects
- fabric (28ct/32ct evenweave or linen)
- charts that I want to complete soon
