I’m sorry, I’ve been lazy with up dating my blog lately.  I also haven’t been stitching as much.  I have been playing my Animal Crossing video game instead and making birthday cards for family members.

I finally did some stitching last night, so I thought I would post some photos so far.

I am continuing to fill in the blue and green joy con controllers.  Michael’s had 4 skeins of DMC 954, so I bought all 4 of them and 1 more DMC 3766 just in case.  I should have enough floss to complete them both.

I also designed another small motif to go in the screen area.  There is a special character in the game named Pascal (otter). You give him scallops you find while deep sea diving for sea creatures.  He will give you mermaid DIY cards to craft items or he will give you mermaid clothes (dress & shoes).  He floats along in the water after you meet him, so I designed him floating.  Yes, I’m aware that he is not to scale but he would be too small to see any detail on him so he is a little larger.

I tried to design mine on an angle, but it was too much work so I created him vertically which I turned horizontally.  I’m very happy with how he turned out.  Stewart might create a larger design of him for one of the monthly spots, but it is OK.

Here is the over all project.  I think I have filled in enough dead space on the main screen.  I was going to try and finish the joy con controllers before starting the monthly special characters, but I think I will start them later this month (after the new one is released on April 15).

Happy St. Patrick’s Day 2021

Here is the St. Patrick’s Day card I made for my Mother-in-law this year.  We added a $20 dollar bill so she could buy herself some scratch tickets from us.  If I buy them in Ontario she can’t cash them in in New Brunswick.  

She is very lucky on scratch tickets, she actually doubled her money form us. She bought $20.00 worth of tickets and won $40.00.  Her daughters also gave her $20.00 for tickets and she won $90.00.

My house is contemporary with more angled walls, so I use black picture frames 95% of the time in each room of the house.  This gives more consistency throughout.  I had this old frame, but it was brown, so I sprayed it with black gloss paint.  I love how it turned out, clean lines and simple.

SYOA - Letters From Hogwarts

When I started this project I knew exactly where to hang it.  I am lucky enough to have a craft room, now that my youngest son is married and has his own house.  I wanted to hang the SYOA in the hallway outside my craft room, so I can see it every day.  Here is a view from my craft room desk.

2021 Stitch-a-longs

I know this year is not over yet, but we stitchers like to start planning our projects for the new year early.  We need time to buy supplies and get things kitted before January 1.  Steward Cunningham (the person who designed the Harry Potter project I’ve been working on all year), has 2 new stitch-a-longs starting in January 2021.  He has posted the project size and thread needed on his website https://cunningcrossstitch.blogspot.com/2020/10/2021-stitchalong-briefings.html  for the 2 SALs listed below.  

The first one is Magic Kingdom SAL. There is no frame, so it will start on January 1.  After that, each pattern drops on the 1st of each month.  I’m not a Disney fan, but I will download the patterns in case I need to stitch them in the future for a friend or my sisters.

The second one is an Animal Crossing SAL.  There is a frame around this one, which will be released on November 15, 2020.  I am definitely participating in this one because it is my favourite video game.
